"Engadine” means garden of the Inn river in the local Raeto-Romansh language. The source of the Inn river is situated next to the only 4000m high mountain of the eastern Alps, the Piz Bernina. On its way through the Engadine valley the river Inn also passes through the parc of the Maloja Palace Hotel. The area at the foot of the Bernina mountains can quiet rightly be called „garden“, as they are truly a botanical treasury – bordering with the Swiss National Park. The Engadine has an average number of 322 days with sun per year.
