At the times the construction of the Hotel KursaaI (later renamed Maloja Palace) the treatment and health-season was also extended into winter.

Medical specialst were still unsure about the salubriousness of the cold and dry winter-air. This is why the Hotel Kursaal developed a heating and air-conditioning system, which could be adjusted to outdoor temperatures.

The air-conditioning system was unique at its time. An electric motor was installed in the cellar of the Hotel ,which was enriching the Hotel-air with ozon. At this time – believe it or not - ozon-enriched air was considered a competitive advantage for winter resorts.
